Training and Resources
Training
In accordance with education in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) initiated by the Office of Research Integrity of NIH, The University of Memphis has developed the following curriculum and resource materials to educate students and faculty in the major domains of RCR. This basic curriculum is the foundation for the development and delivery of additional educational programs in RCR. Complete review of this curriculum is a minimum requirement for faculty and students engaged in sponsored research at the University of Memphis. We also anticipate that this material will be reviewed by all investigators including those involved in non-sponsored University research. The National Institutes of Health announced a new policy - Required Education in the Protection of Human Research Participants. Beginning October 1, 2000, NIH will require education on the protection of human research participants for all investigators and senior personnel on NIH new or continuing grants or contracts involving research on human subjects. The most requested video is from a conference at The University of Mississippi. Dr. Ernest Prentice of The University of Nebraska Medical Center gives an excellent presentation on the evolution of human subjects protection going back to Nuremberg, Germany at the end of WWII (approx. 40 min).
